Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained as needed to read and answer it. It is kept within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can cause the servers and analytics services to receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates, times, and time spent
- Browser name, version, and operating system
- Device category and assigned IP address
- Pages opened during the visit
- The referring site, when one is reported
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic data, such as which pages receive visits and where sessions end. Browser controls can block cookies, though doing so may change how some features work.

- Finding faults and maintaining stable page performance
- Routing a search query to the selected outside provider
- Learning which resources are used and which need improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect browsing interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Nash County Criminal History does not host, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to official custodians, including the Nash County Sheriff, the courts, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a third-party dossier or consumer report, and this resource is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy policies govern query processing, retention, and sharing once information is submitted. We do not control those practices, so review the applicable provider policy before using its tool.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to a sheriff, court, state agency, legal resource, or outside search provider. The destination's policy applies after leaving this site. Check it before giving the destination personal information.
An advertising provider may use its own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be received by:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- The search provider chosen to process a query
- Advertising networks that serve page ads
- A government body when lawful process compels disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet system can guarantee perfect security, however, and this policy does not promise that a breach can never occur.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A verified request concerning a minor's submitted data will be addressed by deleting that information.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide added rights over personal data. North Carolina Public Records Law, Chapter 132, governs records of public agencies rather than turning this private site into a government custodian. State criminal-history dissemination is separately controlled by G.S. 143B-902 through 143B-905. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request deletion of personal data we retain
- Ask whether personal information is on file
- Request correction of inaccurate retained information
- Object to processing where the law grants that choice
